Four Adventures, One Trail Town
Few places in the Southeast combine a paved rail-trail, a national recreation trail, a float-ready river, and an off-road park within minutes of a walkable downtown. Piedmont brings them all together.
- Chief Ladiga Trail: paved rail-trail running beside downtown and through quiet countryside.
- Pinhoti Trail: rugged backcountry singletrack connecting to the Appalachian Trail.
- Terrapin Creek: a scenic, spring-fed creek perfect for family floats and fishing.
- Indian Mountain ATV Park: hundreds of acres of off-road riding with camping and events.
Use the quick links below for detailed mile-by-mile descriptions, shuttle ideas, maps, and safety tips.
Chief Ladiga Trail
The Chief Ladiga Trail runs directly behind downtown Piedmont and the Pinhoti Pizza Company/EXIT Realty Foothills/Main Street South complex. From here, trail users can head east toward the Georgia border and the Silver Comet Trail, or west toward Jacksonville and Anniston.
Trailheads, parking, and restrooms are located within a short ride or walk of food, shopping, and services.
Pinhoti Trail
The Pinhoti Trail weaves through the ridges and hollows above Piedmont, forming a critical link in the long-distance trail system that ultimately reaches the Appalachian Trail. Hikers treat Piedmont as a logical “trail town” stop for resupply, hot showers, and a night indoors.
From town, access points are a short drive away, making day hikes and overnights easy to plan.
Terrapin Creek
Terrapin Creek is a clear, winding waterway that offers a relaxed float for families and friends. Outfitters, shuttle operators, and riverside campgrounds support half-day trips, full-day adventures, and overnight escapes.
Many paddlers pair a day on the creek with dinner and shopping downtown, or a farm stay just outside of town.
Indian Mountain ATV Park
Just minutes from downtown, Indian Mountain ATV Park draws off-road enthusiasts from across the region. With primitive and RV camping, events, and a variety of terrain, it has become a major weekend destination. Piedmont serves as the supply, dining, and lodging hub for riders and their families.
Visitors can grab dinner at Pinhoti Pizza Company, walk Main Street, or resupply in town before heading back to camp.
